Cumbria Diversity Carnival 2026

Afrikana CIC was proud to be part of the vibrant Cumbria Diversity Carnival 2026!

What an incredible celebration of culture, unity and community in the heart of Carlisle! Under beautiful sunshine, hundreds of people came together to celebrate the diversity that makes Cumbria such a welcoming place. The streets were filled with music, dance, colourful traditional attire and flags from around the world as the parade made its way from Warwick Street to Bitts Park.

Afrikana CIC was honoured to join the parade, with our CEO, Cynthia Waggah, proudly representing our organisation and our ongoing commitment to building stronger, more inclusive communities. Throughout the day, we celebrated the values that define our work; bringing people together, supporting newcomers, promoting understanding and creating spaces where everyone feels they belong.

The celebrations continued at Bitts Park during The Big Lunch, where people from different backgrounds shared food, conversations and friendship while standing together against hate and celebrating everything that unites us.

A heartfelt thank you to the organisers, including Multicultural Cumbria, PINC LGBT+ Youth – Pride in North Cumbria, Cumberland Council and Carlisle One World Centre, for delivering another inspiring event that showcased the power of diversity, inclusion and community spirit.

Together, we continue to build bridges, celebrate cultures and strengthen our community, because our diversity is our greatest strength.
